The Great Wilderness Challenge 2006

Gruinard Bay

The Great Wilderness Challenge, a cross-country run/walk between Dundonnell and Poolewe, takes place every year in August. It attracts entrants from around the world who relish the opportunity to take part in one of the most scenic events of its kind anywhere.

 In 2006
the GWC will take place on the weekend of
18 and 19 August.

As well as serious entrants many others enter whose main intention is to raise as much money as they can for their chosen charity. There are several walks to suit all abilities, but all of them pass through the stunning scenery of Wester Ross. Even if you are unable to take part it is still a fun day to be involved in and in the evening there is a ceilidh which is always well attended both by those exhausted from their run, and also by well wishers joining in the atmosphere.

For further information on this event contact Alex Macrae on 01445 731238, Susan Smith on 01445 781330 or Marie Mackenzie on 01445 781424. All these contacts will be pleased to give you further details of how you might enter.

See you in Poolewe on the 18th! Good luck and happy running!
