Gaelic in the Community

In January 2009 we launched a new project to promote the use of Gaelic in the community.  The aim of the project is to increase the use of spoken Gaelic in everyday activities both in the home and in the wider community.  As well as organising social events for Gaelic speakers and learners the project holds weekly informal language classes for parents or carers and children.  We employ a part-time Project Worker to deliver the project by working alongside both fluent Gaelic speakers and complete beginners.  Although in its very early stages the project has already attracted 10 parents/carers to the new language course, has contributed towards significant increases in attendance at other local Gaelic activities and generally renewed interest in the Gaelic language locally.
