How to get here
Air
Flights are available from London, Bristol and Dublin to Inverness, which is the nearest airport to this area. From Inverness there are also flights onward to Wick, the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland. Buses from the airport to Inverness are not frequent but are scheduled to coincide with incoming flights. Taxis are always available.
Rail
Achnasheen is the nearest station. This is reached by a connecting train from Inverness. There is a cross country service which begins in Plymouth and also an east coast direct service from London. There is a sleeper service but it does not operate during certain months of the year. Scotrail have a website or can be contacted on 08457 55 00 33.
Buses
There is an Inverness service Monday–Saturday operating once a day, leaving Poolewe/Gairloch in the early morning and returning from Inverness late afternoon (5 p.m.). Scotbus run a summer service between Gairloch and Poolewe, and also to Achnasheen to meet the Inverness/Kyle service and back to Inverness in the evening. Between Inverness and Ullapool there is a bus service which links with the Western Isles ferry service and also with the Westerbus service on certain days. The Tourist Information Office in Gairloch has local and national timetables and can help you plan any journeys you need to make to and from the area or further afield.
Car hire/rental
Inverness has several car hire companies. There are no car hire facilities locally.
